One of the questions I get asked most by tenants is “Where are the good spots to eat around Nakamura Koen?”. This prompted me to write a short guide on eating out in the area…
Need to knows before heading out to get some food in Japan: 1. ALWAYS CARRY CASH 2. ALWAYS CARRY CASH and 3. YOU GUESSED IT ALWAYS. CARRY. CASH! Pretty much everywhere in Japan still only takes cash so be sure to hit the ATM before heading out!

Kadofuku (カドフク ) Japanese

Kadofuku is a traditional Japanese style Izakaya restaurant. They do a fantastic lunch set on weekdays for about ¥600 to ¥800 which includes a type of meat or curry, rice, and salad. English is not an option here unfortunately but it gives you a great chance to practice your Japanese!

If you’re looking for somewhere to have a late night snack around the station look no further than this small Yakitori bar/restaurant. I am not to sure about the English level or level of understanding but again another fantastic place to practice all that Japanese you’ve learnt!
Sushiro (スシロー) Conveyor Belt Sushi

This is probably the place we visit the most here at JCM-Ltd because well….. ¥100 PER PLATE SUSHI! This chain restaurant offers all different varieties of sushi and other small Japanese dishes starting at ¥100 and up. Beware though, if you plan to visit at peak times be prepared to be waiting a while unless you reserve on their iPhone app which unfortunately is only in Japanese!
CoCo Ichibanya (CoCo壱番屋) Japanese Style Curry

Monday to Sunday 11:00am – 12:00am
CoCo Ichi as everyone calls it is one of the most well known Japanese style curry restaurant chains in the world with around 1700 stores in Japan alone. It offers a variety of different curry dishes with different levels of spice and sizes for very affordable prices. And the best thing? They have English menus!
Fujiichiban (藤一番らーめん中村店) Ramen / Chinese
Dinner
Monday to Saturday 3:00pm – 3:00am, Sunday 11:00am – 3:00am
Another cheap local late night place to grab some grub! This place stays open super late and always has an interesting mix of characters sitting inside getting their ramen and fried rice fix! Prices are easily affordable and service is pretty snappy!
Meshiya (ザーめしや) Japanese Self Serve

Monday to Sunday 11:00am – 1:00am
Meshiya is a fantastic restaurant that allows you to pick your own food from a big buffet style selection of various dishes. Just pick up a tray and make your way down the line picking what foods you would like to eat then head over to an empty table. The service staff will come to your table and ask if any of your dishes need heating up, then they’ll add up the total price for your meal. Once you have finished your meal take your receipt to the till at the front!
Kamiya (かみや) Traditional Japanese

Mon Tue Thur Fri Sat Sun 11:30am – 2pm / 5pm – 9pm
This family owned Japanese restaurant will make you feel like you’ve gone back in time. It serves fantastic delicious cuisine at fantastic prices. You’ll need to use your Japanese in this place!
